HERIOT WATT UNIVERSITY HOCKEY CLUB

About Us

The Club

HWUHC is a fully inclusive, social and successful club. We have 5 teams (3 mens and 2 ladies teams) competing in the British Universities & College Sports (BUCS) leagues on Wednesday afternoons. We train and play our home games at Peffermill, the premier hockey venue in Edinburgh, with 2 water based pitches and a modern clubhouse and bar setup, perfect for post match drinks.

We also have a thriving recreational hockey scene with games played on Friday afternoon/evenings for those wanting to play more relaxed hockey.

We have a fantastic reputation as one of, if not the best, clubs at Heriot-Watt for our social scene. Whole club socials every Wednesday begin after the full time whistle with team match teas, before all teams get together for the night out. HWUHC’s thriving pub crawls, club dinners and fundraisers have been recognised by our fellow Sports Union clubs, picking up University Social Club of the Year in both 2015 and 2017.

2018/19 promises to be another exciting year for the club, with our developing partnership with Watsonians Hockey Club. WHC is based at George Watson’s College in Bruntsfield, easily accessible by bus from campus, and offers Heriot-Watt students the chance to play National and Regional league hockey at weekends. With 5 mens and 5 ladies squads, there is a standard for everyone, and along with the lively Myreside Clubhouse, Watsonians offers a fantastic extension to your hockey and social experience at university.
